The flight response is perhaps the most commonly understood. We watch deer bolt from us in the forest, they are feeling a danger. This is an appropriate response. When our nervous systems are unregulated, we might respond disproportionately or inappropriately to the situation, or stay stuck in a response for a long period of time. Attempting to function during a global pandemic, in the face of so much unknown, many of us are remaining unregulated and in some combination of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response. Flight response can feel like a busy or racing mind, nausea, twitching, rapid breathing, or tight hip flexors or thighs.
