In 2018, Nhat and Gigi also became part of their teachers’, William Teixeira and Paloma Alves, professional zouk company, WT Company, and continue to study under them. Nhat and Gigi invest in traveling to Brazil and throughout North America to learn from the best Brazilian Zouk professionals in the world and believe in life-long training and learning. They are passionate about growing and nurturing the zouk community in Austin and beyond. They have taught zouk workshops internationally in Brazil and Spain and started their own zouk program along with Richelle Crotty in 2018 at Dance International. Together they also started the first zouk-only monthly social in Austin, Brazilian Beats Zouk Social. Now they’re excited to join the Body Collective family to share a strong focus on safety, creativity, technique, and fun in their weekly group classes.

What to expect from a class with Gigi
Students can expect feelings of warmth, family, and inclusion when coming to our classes. They can expect to experience investment in their safety and growth as dance students, to learn about Brazilian music and culture, and to learn about dance technique as individuals and in a partnership. Followers will learn follow technique that is often over-looked in the group class setting and will leave them feeling confident and self-sufficient. Leads will be challenged and taught how to develop a lead that is comfortable, clear, and not forceful. Last, but not least, they can expect to hear a lot of Nhat’s corny jokes!
